Key Question 1: What is the environmental/social sustainability issue?
The ice is melting in Antarctica , it's bad because it's going to kill all the animals that live on ice.
We also will lose a lot of our land because the water melting causes it to overflow and come onto our land and then we run out of places to live because most of our land will be underwater.
We are creating greenhouse gases which is polluting the air and making the temperature rise and this causes the ice to melt.
Key Question 2: What factors have caused this issue?
The summer causes the ice to melt, but only in some cases also people. By polluting the air through greenhouse gases we are causing some of the ice to melt because the warm air is melting the ice.
Key Question 3: What will happen if this issue continues to degrade?
if we don't stop and help prevent this antarctica ice will all melt and rise sea levels by 58 meters which will come onto the land, which means people will start to lose houses. Greenhouse gases are created by pollution which allows the earth's temperature to rise.
Key Question 4: What are the possible solutions to this issue (either being currently done or could be done)?
We could stop using as much plastic which will save the air from getting so warm then will stop the ice from melting. We need to make changes which reduce greenhouse gases. Currently efforts are being made to create the world's largest marine reserve. Russia, China and Ukraine are preventing this from happening.
conclusion
I learned that we are the reason the ice is melting. I also learnt that some of the things we use in our daily lives that we think don't do much harm to our environment do actually such as cars, electricity and plastic . So when you go somewhere, think about what you are doing before you do it because it can change our future.
